Christmas Spending

In today's economy out of all the holidays Christmas is the one that that trumps them all when it comes to consumer spending. In 2010 there was $584.3 billion spent on Christmas decorations and gifts in the month of December leading up to Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve alone 23 million people were out shopping for last minute gifts. These statistics show that our economy is definitely one that is based heavily on consumption. With out this or economy would definitely fall apart.

Immigration

I think being a nation of immigrants means a lot to the development of our nation. It must have taken a whole lot for these people to come to America. They were leaving everything they were accustomed to and all of their possessions behind when they came to the "new world". They must have had an incredible amount of guts in order to make this kind of journey.

I am not aware about any connections i have to and 19th  century immigrants. However in the future i would love to look into it and see if i could find anything out. I have always wanted to know where my ancestors have come from.

Faces of America Video

The film that we watched in class the past two days were fascinating. The narrator researched about ten famous Americans to find out what their heritage was. He went back as far as he could possibly find and made them all books that included a plethora of information about his or her past and relatives.

This is my Great Uncle
Watching these films made me really appreciate how incredibly small we are in this world. I would love to do some more research into where I came from. Hopefully I will get the chance to do some research in the near future!!!!!!!!!!!!!
